Why Rihanna’s New Music Video is Banned in France

Rihanna’s music video of her chart-topping single “We Found Love” gets banned in France’s daytime television and is allowed to be shown only after 10 PM.

The video directed by Melina Matsouka is jam-packed with sex, drugs, and “self-destructive behavior,” according to the Supreme Audiovisual Council of France.

It looks like Rihanna is creating a trend. The music video for another one of her songs, “S&M”, which Matsuoka also directed, was also banned in 11 countries due to very explicit visual.

But while the video for “We Found Love” is deemed unsuited for France’s daytime television viewers for being sexually explicit, the song continues to top the charts and has been glued to the number 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100.

And did we mention that the male lead in her music video looks awfully a lot like her ex Chris Brown?
